Requirements
- Audition & Placement Required - Dancers are placed based on age, skill level, technique, performance ability, and overall program fit.
- Weekly Required Technique Classes - Dancers participate in required technique classes designed to support their growth as well-rounded performers. All Starlettes dancers are required to take Jazz and Ballet. Elementary-aged dancers are also required to take Tap as their third technique class. Beginning in middle school, dancers may continue Tap or replace it with another approved class option. Higher-level teams or dancers participating in additional styles may have additional class requirements based on placement.
- Strength and Conditioning Training - For dancers in Jazz 5 and above, Strength & Conditioning is an important part of their training experience. These classes help dancers build strength, flexibility, endurance, and body awareness to support their continued growth and success as performers. Training frequency is determined by level and placement, with dancers participating bi-weekly or weekly as required.
- Weekly Team Rehearsals Based on Placement - Each dancer’s rehearsal schedule is determined by their team placement, level, and choreography requirements. Weekly rehearsals provide dedicated time for dancers to develop their routines, strengthen team connections, and continue growing as performers.
- Additional Training Requirements Based on Level - As dancers progress through the Starlettes program, additional training time may be required to support the growth, complexity, and demands of their routines. Jazz 3 and Jazz 4 dancers participate in a required monthly Saturday technique and rehearsal class focused on skill development and performance preparation. Jazz 8, Jazz 9, and other advanced-level teams participate in a monthly 1.5-hour Saturday rehearsal focused on refining choreography, strengthening performance quality, and preparing dancers for the expectations of higher-level competition.
- Commitment to the Full Season Experience - Starlettes is designed for dancers who are ready to commit to a complete competitive dance experience. Dancers and families commit to required rehearsals, competitions, performances, team events, and the dedication needed to support their team throughout the season.
- Required Costumes & Team Items - Families are responsible for required performance and team items throughout the season, including costumes, shoes, tights, accessories, and the required team jacket. These items ensure dancers are prepared and ready to represent Starlettes at competitions, performances, and team events.
- Summer Choreography Intensives - Dancers begin preparing for the upcoming season through choreography, training, and team-building opportunities. These intensives allow dancers to learn new material, build confidence, and start the season feeling prepared and connected with their team.
- 4–5 Required Competitions Per Season - Starlettes dancers attend 4–5 required competitions each season as part of their competitive dance experience. These events allow dancers to perform, celebrate their progress, learn from industry professionals, and create memorable experiences with their teammates.
