Life Coaching and Wellness with Miss Kailey
Dance is about much more than learning new skills. Dance helps children develop important life skills that can be applied outside the studio. We are proud to help our dancers become happy, healthy individuals. One of our teachers, Miss Kailey, is a certified Life Coach, and she helps us nurture our dance community through four key programs: Starpath Talks, Positivity Pals, Mindful Mornings, and Private Sessions.
STARPATH TALKS
These 45-minute group sessions focus on a specific topic, typically in conjunction with an event on our Social Calendar. We discuss how the topic shows up in our lives and what we can do to create an encouraging and productive experience for ourselves. Past topics include stress management, goal setting, peer relations, and gratitude attitude. We structure these conversations based on the age / emotional maturity of the participants.
AGES 6-9
- Read a book or story that relates to the topic and allows the kids to see the topic play out in a third-party example
- Participate in a craft that enhances their understanding of the topic and allows them to apply it to their own lives
- Discuss helpful life coaching tips that can be used whenever the dancers need a little extra help
AGES 10-13
- Engage in an activity that teaches about the topic and shows participants how it can show up in their lives
- Participate in a craft that enhances their understanding of the topic and allows them to apply it to their own lives
- Have an interactive peer discussion, moderated by Miss Kailey, to allow for bonding and brainstorming on the topic
POSITIVITY PALS
Positivity Pals aims to spread positivity throughout Starpath to influence our dancers' relationships with their peers, teachers, and beyond. This could be accomplished by leaving kind notes for people to find around the studio, telling someone they saw them working hard in dance class, or any other interaction that is fueled by positivity. Miss Kailey hosts meetups for this group where they participate in various activities to promote mindfulness and create a space for them to just be themselves, such as walks outside or doing a mindfulness art activity.
MINDFUL MORNINGS
Mindful Mornings are designed for the parents and other adults in our dance community. Miss Kailey hosts these meetups that include a variety of activities and exercises that are aimed at increasing mindfulness, which can help relieve stress and provide a relief from our busy, day-to-day lives. This is a time where your only responsibility is to make sure you are cared for and that you are carving out a "timeout" for yourself. Some activities include nature walks, guided breathwork, gentle stretching, and written exercises.
PRIVATE SESSIONS
We currently offer private sessions with Miss Kailey for our students 13 years and older. These 30-minute sessions can be done at our Green Level West location, or virtually on Zoom. Individual sessions are catered to the participant's needs, or what their parent / guardian is hoping they will gain from the sessions. Life Coaching takes a proactive approach and teaches practical skills for how we can show up empowered in our own lives. Life Coaching is NOT therapy or counseling and should not be treated as a replacement for such things. Private Life Coaching sessions might be right for you if you are looking to boost your self-confidence or self-esteem, need help managing your stress and/or time, or are looking for ways to realize the happiest and healthiest version of yourself.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A PRIVATE SESSION
- A focus on positivity and gratitude for what is going well for us.
- Discussions focusing on the outcome they want to experience and why they want to experience them.
- A safe space for Miss Kailey to be a listening ear without judgment.
- Constant encouragement and acknowledgement that everyone has the potential to be the best version of themselves.
- Practical discussions on how we can reach our desired outcomes.
- An Accountability Partner to remind everyone that we do have the power to change our lives.
