Starpath Dance Academy has a dress code for several reasons:
- Attire can often be a distraction among younger dancers. Having a dress code prevents these distractions.
- Teachers must be able to see lines on dancers, meaning they need to know things like when a leg is bent, arm is straight, or hips aligned to the front in order to provide the best instruction.
- Proper attire helps set the tone for dedication and discipline among dancers. Even when dancing recreationally, we are teaching students that it is important to commit to things, be part of a team, and be serious about anything they belong to.
- Proper shoes help dancers learn certain skills and keep them safe.
- And finally, changing leotard colors works like a reward system for younger students — they "graduate" to a new color.
LEOTARDS
- Starlight Babies (2-3 years old) wear pink leotards
- Starlight Tots (3-4 years old) wear purple leotards
- Starlight Kids (4-5 and 5-6 years old) wear blue leotards.
- Dancers in Pre and Elementary-level classes for any of the below styles need to wear black leotards.
- Dancers in Junior, Technique, Intermediate, and Advanced-level classes for any of the below styles may wear black or teal leotards.

ACRO

BALLET
Pink tights and split-sole pink ballet shoes. Ballet skirts are optional.

CONTEMPORARY
Half-sole shoes. A skirt and pink tights are optional.

HIP HOP
There is a required hip hop shoe. Dancers may wear comfortable pants, capris, or shorts (no jeans, jean shorts, or skirts / dresses) and a T-shirt, tank top, camisole.

Slip-on black jazz shoes and jazz pants or shorts of any color. Tights are optional.
